It calls into question the contraceptive pill, an option increasingly rooted in our culture.

In contrast, it proposes a rediscovery of the female body in order to distinguish between what a doctor attributes to us and how we ourselves feel, in flesh and bone.

For the production of this series, I had the help of my circle of friends and companions in collecting more than 100 blister packs of contraceptive pills, during the period between 2013 and 2014.

The series, composed of 29 drawings and collages, 12 embroideries and some objects, externalizes in each composition different female states of mind, belonging to our diverse and complex universe.

“Since the sperm entered the ovum, I have been becoming what others want me to be.

What the family wants me to be, what society wants me to be, what culture wants me to be, what history wants me to be. I am fighting to be what I authentically am. To stop and see what is in this skeleton, what is in this body, what is in this creative sexual center, what is in this emotional center, what is in this intellect, how all of this is functioning. I see myself at the edge of the abyss, but an abyss that goes upward.”
