Esto no es un cartel (This Is Not a Sign)

The title of the project alludes to the title of Michel Foucault’s literary work Ceci n’est pas une pipe, in which he analyzes the work of the artist René Magritte.

In the same way as in Magritte’s work, this production brings contradiction, uncertainty and irony into play through the construction of the images and texts that make up the photographs and signposts.

There is an allegory, a double message. Through wordplay and, in some cases, humor, the work conveys a message of awareness about caring for the environment. It is also developed through activist proposals, such as the planting and care of trees.
